Skill vs. Chance
In the UK, a prize draw generally falls into one of two broad categories: a lottery, where winners are chosen purely by chance, or a prize competition, which requires participants to exercise a genuine skill, knowledge, or judgement that has a real bearing on the outcome. This distinction matters because lotteries are tightly regulated under gambling law, while genuine skill-based competitions are not treated the same way.
How The Twenty's Skill Test Works
Access to each week's Crack the Vault stage is earned exclusively by passing a three-trial Skill Test, with a combined score of 6 or higher out of 9 required to qualify. Nobody can buy, inherit, or otherwise obtain an entry without passing this test on their own performance. See our How It Works page for the full mechanics.
