How Crack the Vault Works

Crack the Vault is the moment everything else in The Twenty builds towards.

It's the live, weekly final stage where qualified members compete for that week's prize.

Getting there

You don't enter Crack the Vault directly.

You qualify for it.

Each week, members take the Skill Test — three trials, assessing different abilities under time pressure.

Passing with a combined score of 6 or higher out of 9 unlocks that week's Crack the Vault stage.

Fail, and there's no carry-over — a new Skill Test unlocks the following week.

The live window

Crack the Vault runs at a fixed weekly moment, not on demand.

Every member who qualified that week faces the exact same challenge, at the exact same time, within a short synchronised window.

Nobody gets a head start, and nobody gets extra time.

How the winner is decided

The fastest correct completion wins that week's reveal.

If two members finish in an exact tie, the higher combined Skill Test score decides it.

There's no separate weighting by score beyond the qualifying threshold — every member who passed the Skill Test has a genuine, equal shot, decided purely by performance in the moment.

Why a live, synchronised stage?

A fixed live window is designed to keep the process fair and verifiable.

Everyone competes under the same conditions, at the same time, against the same challenge.

The exact verification mechanism — how results are checked and published — will be set out in full before paid participation launches.

What Does 'Verifiable' Actually Mean?

In practice, it means the result isn't just a number you're told to trust. Each qualifying member's attempt is timed with a server-recorded start and finish, so the winning completion time can, in principle, be checked independently rather than taken on faith. That's a deliberate design choice: a live, synchronised, timed format is much harder to dispute or manipulate than an outcome decided behind closed doors.

How Crack the Vault Differs From a Typical Prize Draw

A typical prize draw picks a winner from a pool of entries after the fact, with the entrant playing no active part in the moment of selection. Crack the Vault works the opposite way: qualifying members actively compete, in real time, against each other and the clock. The difference isn't just presentation — it's the entire basis for who wins. A prize draw's winner is selected. Crack the Vault's winner performs their way to it.

What if you don't win?

Qualifying for Crack the Vault is not a guarantee of winning it.

If you don't finish fastest that week, nothing else about your position changes.

Under the current model, your £15 Vault allocation is untouched, and a new Skill Test unlocks the following week for another shot.

Common Questions

  • How long does the live window last? The exact duration will be published in the final competition rules — the key design point is that it's short, fixed and identical for every qualifying member that week.
  • Can I practise before the real Crack the Vault stage? The Skill Test that gates entry has a separate training mode, so you can build familiarity before it counts for real.
  • What happens if my connection drops during the live window? Full contingency rules will be published before paid participation launches — this is exactly the kind of edge case the final terms are designed to cover.
  • Does a higher Skill Test score improve my odds beyond breaking ties? No — every qualifying member has an equal shot at winning Crack the Vault through speed. The combined Skill Test score only matters as a tiebreaker if two members finish in an exact dead heat.

The bigger picture

Crack the Vault is designed to be the exciting part of The Twenty — but it sits on top of the Vault, not in place of it.

Save consistently. Qualify through skill. Compete live.

That's Crack the Vault.
